About

Hello!

I’m a bioengineering PhD student and Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University. I am also supported by the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG).

My research interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience and engineering. I previously developed methods for noninvasive control and monitoring of the brain with Dr. Jerzy Szablowski at the Rice Neuroengineering Initiative and developed neural decoders for brain-computer interfaces with Dr. Amy Orsborn at the University of Washington’s Center for Neurotechnology. I also studied sleep with Dr. Lauren Eggert and vaccination with Drs. Malathi Srinivasan and Shanthi Kappagoda at the Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education.

I graduated from Rice University in 2024 with majors in Neuroscience, Computer Science, and Cognitive Science. I received the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Sigma Xi Grant in Aid of Research for my undergraduate research.

Outside of my academic endeavors, I enjoy speedsolving Rubik’s Cubes, playing soccer, cooking, and reading. I am also on the production team for the Imagine a World Podcast. Check it out!

I can be reached at rzwang (at) stanford (dot) edu.
